Second edition (first 1763). The second edition makes a few changes and answers some criticisms of the first edition.

Baumé was lecture demonstrator to Macquer for 25 years and gave 16 courses with him. It was from Macquer’s and Baumé’s works that Guyton de Morveau taught himself chemistry (Smeaton, DSB, p. 600). Bishop Watson learnt his chemistry from an ‘Operator’ from Paris and from Baumé’s textbook when he was appointed professor of Chemistry at Cambridge in 1764 (Partington p. 90).

Cole’s copy is dated 1766, apparently a corrected reprint.
